Extra Credit will be given for presentation that are more than just standing at the front of the room.  Ex: PowerPoints, Posters, Visuals of any kind etc.

Cell's Exam Review

1. The stems would wilt
2.Plant- (organelles) chloroplast, cell wall
Animal- Does not have the above organelles

Plant- Rectangular shaped
Animal- Circular shaped

Plant- Obtain energy through photosynthesis
Animals- Obtain energy through absorption of nutrients
3. Skin Cells
4. See question #2
5. Cell Membrane
6. Mitochondria
7. Provide structure and support as well as gives it shaped
8. Store water and waste materials for the cell
9. Plant cell has a larger vacuole because it needs it for the storage of more water
10. First you have CELLS, A group of cells makes a TISSUE, a group of tissues make an ORGAN, a group of organs makes an ORGAN SYSTEMS, and a group of organ systems makes an ORGANISM
11. Mitochondria, Cell Membrane, Cytoplasm, Nucleus
12. Plant- root, stem, leaf
Animal- heart, lungs, brain
13. Nucleus
14. Specialized
15. To transport genetic material through cell division and it would not be able to do that if it wasn't in the cell
16. Aids in the digestion of food, breaks down waste, helps remove waste from the cell
17. To regulate what enters and leaves the cell
18. Mitochondria
19. They keep the same genetic material
20.
* All living things are made up of cells
* Cells are the smallest working units of all living things
* All cells come from preexisting cells through cell division
21. regulates what enters and leaves, removes wastes, takes in nutrients

GOOD LUCK ON YOUR EXAM TOMORROW
*** DON'T FROGET TO GET YOUR PARENTS TO SIGN YOUR REVIEW AND TURN IT IN FOR EXTRA CREDIT***

Thursday 1-26-12

Today the class took notes over mitosis.  You can go to my school website and get the notes plus the pictures involved with each of the stages of cell division.

Here is a link to my school website: Link to Mr. Reynolds School Web Site

Here is a link to the cells alive website where you can find lots of information about mitosis and cells in general: Cells Alive

Wednesday 1-25-12

Today the class finished up writing their conclusion to the cell lab.  I also gave out a quiz over cell structure and function.

Monday 1-23-12 and Tuesday 1-24-12

Today the students started a cell lab using the microscopes.  It will run for two days and will count as a summative grade.
