Cell's Exam Review

1. The stems would wilt
2.Plant- (organelles) chloroplast, cell wall
Animal- Does not have the above organelles

Plant- Rectangular shaped
Animal- Circular shaped

Plant- Obtain energy through photosynthesis
Animals- Obtain energy through absorption of nutrients
3. Skin Cells
4. See question #2
5. Cell Membrane
6. Mitochondria
7. Provide structure and support as well as gives it shaped
8. Store water and waste materials for the cell
9. Plant cell has a larger vacuole because it needs it for the storage of more water
10. First you have CELLS, A group of cells makes a TISSUE, a group of tissues make an ORGAN, a group of organs makes an ORGAN SYSTEMS, and a group of organ systems makes an ORGANISM
11. Mitochondria, Cell Membrane, Cytoplasm, Nucleus
12. Plant- root, stem, leaf
Animal- heart, lungs, brain
13. Nucleus
14. Specialized
15. To transport genetic material through cell division and it would not be able to do that if it wasn't in the cell
16. Aids in the digestion of food, breaks down waste, helps remove waste from the cell
17. To regulate what enters and leaves the cell
18. Mitochondria
19. They keep the same genetic material
20.
* All living things are made up of cells
* Cells are the smallest working units of all living things
* All cells come from preexisting cells through cell division
21. regulates what enters and leaves, removes wastes, takes in nutrients

GOOD LUCK ON YOUR EXAM TOMORROW
*** DON'T FROGET TO GET YOUR PARENTS TO SIGN YOUR REVIEW AND TURN IT IN FOR EXTRA CREDIT***

1-31-12 Tuesday

The students played a review game for the cell's exam coming up Wednesday.

1-27-12

Students received their review for the upcoming cell's exam.  They worked on those the entire class period.

Thursday, January 26, 2012

Thursday 1-26-12

Today the class took notes over mitosis.  You can go to my school website and get the notes plus the pictures involved with each of the stages of cell division.

Here is a link to my school website: Link to Mr. Reynolds School Web Site

Here is a link to the cells alive website where you can find lots of information about mitosis and cells in general: Cells Alive

Wednesday 1-25-12

Today the class finished up writing their conclusion to the cell lab.  I also gave out a quiz over cell structure and function.

Monday 1-23-12 and Tuesday 1-24-12

Today the students started a cell lab using the microscopes.  It will run for two days and will count as a summative grade.

Extra Credit 1-18-12

Go to http://www.cellsalive.com/howbig.htm

Tell me the objects that it is magnifying.  Write them down on a separate sheet of paper and turn in to me as you are coming into the classroom.

Wednesday's Class 1-18-12

Today the students did a webquest from a website www.cellsalive.com

Thursday, January 12, 2012

Thursday's Class 1-12-12

Today the students had  a shortened schedule so we graded the workbook 13-1 and 13-2.  I also checked their spirals for the Cell Diagram that was supposed to be done today.

Wednesday, January 11, 2012

Wednesday's Class 1-11-12

Today the class worked on a cell diagram chart.  They had to color it and tell the functions of the different organelles in the plant and animal cells.  I will be checking these tomorrow during class.

Here is the picture of my Plant and Animal Cell:

Tuesday's Class 1-10-12

I was not in class today.  I assigned the students to work on a worksheet detailing how a cell is comparable to a factory.  the students were to complete the worksheet and then put the notes in their science spiral on pg. 13 & 15.

Monday's Class 1-9-12

The class worked on a packet titled. "Cell Organization".  It will be due Tuesday

Friday, January 6, 2012

Friday's Class 1-6-12

Today in class the students took the notes quiz over Cel Function/Structure.  13-1 and 13-2 are due Monday from the workbook.

Thursday, January 5, 2012

Thursday's Class 1-5-12

Today the class worked through a packet that went over cells to organisms and the level of organization between them.  They were to answer questions that were scattered throughout the packet and then take their own notes over the information.

Wednesday, January 4, 2012

Wednesday's Class 1-4-12

Today we concluded the notes overs Cell Structure/Function.  I again informed the students that they would have a notes quiz over and and to remember to bring their notes to class Friday for that quiz.  After the notes we discussed the 7 characteristics for life from this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TcqsPaOvLN0&feature=related

Tuesday, January 3, 2012

Class Tuesday 1-3-12

Today the students started on notes over the structure and function of cells.  We were not able to complete those and will more than likely finish them up tomorrow.
IMPORTANT: There will be a quiz over these notes Friday!  Don't forget to bring your notes then.
You should be in a new spiral for this none weeks and if you have not gotten one yet you need to ASAP.
